How to prepare your car for Winter
I live along the mid Atlantic so winters here are unpredictable. First things first you should have the cooling system flushed out and refilled any shop can do this for you many local quick service centers do this also. Have your battery checked and make sure the connections are clean and not corroded this can be done by you or your local shop.
Some things to buy at your local parts store windshield washer fluid I have found that you can’t have enough of this when the snow is partly melted and salt gets on your windshield. if you don’t know where to put the windshield washer fluid read your owners manual or have a service center show you. If you drive a two wheel drive car or truck it’s a good idea to have tire chains on hand but don’t drive unless you have too. A blanket comes in handy if you do get stuck throw a couple in a gym bag and store them in the trunk you never know when your cell phone might dye or not be able to get a signal.
Things you should have at all times jumper cables in case your battery does go dead an emergency kit with flares. Don’t forget the spare make sure you have the proper jacking equipment that came with the car and check the tire pressure of the spare. Some useful tools to have on hand are a basic flat head screw driver a Philips screw driver a pair of pliers and an adjustable pair of pliers.
